It's
Wednesday and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at
wave 5 and
6 of the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1/18 scale figures from
Joy Toy! The 5th wave had
Slash,
Tokka and
Krang and the 6th wave gave us
Casey Jones and 3 Triceraton figures,
Captain Zorax,
Adjutant Zork and a
Triceraton infantryman (
well, 'man'... shouldn't it be infantrytriceraton?). As always,
Joy Toy did an amazing job, and I have to say that the bigger, monster figures are definitely where they do their best work!
WAVE 5:
From wave 5,
Slash comes with a ton of accessories:
2 heads,
4 pairs of hands,
2 claws attachments,
2 swords,
2 knives, a
pint of beer, a
lobster sandwish (
yep), a
mini turtle, a
mini tree, a
large blade, a
gun and a
shield, along with the
diorama base and a
stand. Slash is about the same size as the ninja turtles are, and has great articulations and a ton of details.
Joy Toy gave us some great design for him. It was the first I opened and it might be my favorite from that wave (
I also loved the character/figure growing up so it helps).

Krang in his
Android body is a great, fun figure. The
Android body comes with
2 sets of hands and
5 attachments to replace the hands (
drill, axe, chain with morning star, laser gun or circular saw) and
Krang also has his little
walking device, similar to the one the old
Playmates figure had. Instant nostalgia hit! It also comes with
4 diorama base (not sure why, but then you have a whole set) and a
stand. The
Android body looks amazing and had great articulations.
Krang has articulated tentacles. If this had come out when I was a kid (
and was 1/12 scale...), I would have been so happy!
Well, at least, I'm happy now!

Tokka is very similar to the
Slash figure. At first, I thought they just used the same mold for both and changed the head, but there are many tiny details on the body, and the back of the shell, that make it a different figure. It also comes with a ton of accessories:
4 pairs of hands, an
anchor,
2 scimitars,
2 curved knives,
2 blade attachments for his hands, a gun, a shield, a
mini turtle, a
pint of beer, a giant
turkey leg, and the
diorama base and
stand. A lot of his accessories are similar to the
Slash figure too (beer, mini turtle, gun, shield...) It's a cool figure, but I would have released it in the same wave as
Rahzar. He feels kinda lonely without his buddy.
They're just babies after all!

WAVE 6:
The 6th wave finally gave us a
Casey Jones, which comes with
2 outfits. I would like to thank
Joy Toy for putting him in the
hockey player gear in the packaging, so that I do not have to do it myself, because it's probably the only time this figure will be wearing it. I don't see a lot of people displaying the figure in that outfit, when there is also the original
hockey mask/sleeveless vest one.
Casey comes with
2 heads,
2 pairs of hands +
1 extra hand,
2 sets of feet (shoes and roller skates), his
vest, his
carry bag with
3 hockey sticks,
2 baseball bats, a
gold club, a
sledgehammer and a
cricket bat + the
diorama base and
stand. It looks great, but compared to all the other beefy, big monster figures, he ends up being the most '
disappointing' figure of the set, in a sense that he's very tiny, doesn't move as great as the others, and his pegs being very small/thin, changing his hands or feet is a bit more
frustrating. One of the pegs for the feet nearly broke when I removed the roller skate one, so I won't be playing with it too much. Also, like with other figures before (the foot soldiers, for examples), his
weapons look a bit comically big, and look a bit off when he's holding them.

The
Triceraton figures, on the other hand, are awesome!
Captain Zorax comes with
4 pairs of hands,
2 fist blades, a huge
rocket gun, a
rocket and a
barbell + the
diorama base and
stand. That figure, along with the other 2
Triceratons, is pure hand-candy. Fun to pose, looks great, feels heavyn great paint and details. The mouth is articulated and it has a bendy tail.
Just a fun action figure!

Adjutant Zork has great paint and details, and his green color really pops next to the more orange ones. He comes with
4 pairs of hands, a
dagger, a
machine gun,
2 shotguns, an
arm strength device and
2 brass knuckles + the
diorama base and
stand. Just like
Captain Zorax, his mouth is articulated and he has a bendy tail. The sheath for his dagger tends to slide down his thigh a lot, but stays in place when you're not playing with it.

Finally, the
Triceraton Infantryman is equally awesome. He comes with
4 pairs of hands,
2 short knives that can be attached together, an
assault rifle, a
gun and
2 dumbbells + the
diorama base and
stand. I love that they all come with some sort of gym equipment. This one also has a scarf around his neck. Like the other ones, articulated mouth, bendy tail!

Joy Toy has already announced the next wave, with
Groundchuck,
Dirtbag and
Rahzar. I actually already have this wave in hand, but there was an issue with my order (
one duplicate figure, and one missing). It's currently being sorted out. If they let me keep the duplicate, I will do a giveaway when I post the review!
