Inspired by the popular artist alley convention experience, the new cutting-edge DC Artists Alley line from DC Collectibles merges indie design with DC’s most iconic characters. The first wave of designer vinyl figures showcases illustrator Chris Uminga’s offbeat interpretations of Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman and hits stores in June 2018. In a new clip released today by DC Collectibles, Uminga discusses his unique “creepy-meets-cute” art style as he draws one of his all-time favorite DC Characters, The Joker.
Following the first set of figures by Uminga, other DC Artists Alley waves debuting in 2018 include Barcelonian-bred artist, Sho Murase’s stylish designs for Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and HaiNaNu “Nooligan” Saulque’s exaggerated designs of The Joker, Batman and Harley Quinn. All waves are currently available for pre-order at places like BigBadToyStore.com.
Christopher Uminga is a Connecticut based painter and illustrator. Chris has spent the last ten years developing a unique style that blends together creepy and cute. You can find the influences of classic movies, Saturday morning cartoons, graffiti and low brow/outsider art in his work.
