Word on the rumor mill is that there maybe some new Star Trek video games in the works based on this messgae posted over at
Star Trek Gaming Universe by someone named Harry. Here is what he had to say.
"Ok folks, something I think is long overdue and I've been wanting to do more of is give you all an update as to what is going on behind the scenes. Things have been rather hectic lately which is why I haven't posted as much. And it's only getting busier.
It's a new year and in terms of gaming, here's the "state of the state":
- First and foremost, the MMOG is deep in design. The game is set for beta sometime in 2006 and release sometime in 2007. Mitch is getting an update to the FAQ ready, and not far from now, you'll start seeing more info coming out. I'm also working on getting this more closely integrated with other things going on within the company.
- On the mobile games front, some of you have seen there are two mobile phone games out called "Birds of Prey" and "Cold Enemy." BOP got a great review - 8.9 at Gamespot for instance, and they said "Star Trek: The Birds of Prey is one of those exceedingly rare media-licensed mobile games that flies in the face of convention. It's not only a pleasant surprise--it's a spectacular action game that is easily one of the best shooters on the mobile platform." No reviews on CE yet, but you can see more here: https://www.gamespot.com/mobile/acti...nemy/index.html. More mobile games will be coming as well.
- All I can really say about the next thing right now is that you'll be seeing ST games coming to non-traditional gaming platforms this year.
As far as what's in store for the future, there are some interesting developments. While not set in stone yet, discussions are on going for several all-new ST games (anybody here like strategy?). And one you might play sooner than you think if it happens These would be traditional SP/MP games. In addition, there are a couple of other initiatives I'm involved with. One involves resurrecting a previously cancelled ST game, and another is an idea I had that would involve the modding scene exclusively.
There are many variables which could affect any of these from happening which is why I cannot be more specific right now (hey, it's something!) But I wanted to let you know there are active discussions on going with developers as I type, and we are looking at creative new ways to get games out there even if you're not hearing about it on a regular basis. So sit back, play games, and be patient. And remember, it's just a game.
Harry"
