TNI Spotlight: Enterprise NX-01 Starship

We take a look at the new 12" Enterprise NX-01 starship from Art Ayslum.

The NX-01 is the first Star Trek starship Art Ayslum has released in what will hopefully be a long line of Star Trek toys. When you press the dome at the center of the saucer section (which also happens to be the bridge), the warp nacells found in the back of the ship, and the defelctor dish which is located at the front of the saucer section light up. You can also hear authentic sounds from the show like Warp Cruising, Warp Out, Phase Cannons, Impluse Crusing, The Grapler and Torpedo Attack.

The NX-01 comes with the main body of the ship, 2 warp nacels, display stand, and a display base mounting plate. When you first take the ship out of the packaging you should open the battery case (Batteries are included) and flip a switch from try me to normal. This allows the toy to cycle through its different lights and sounds each time you push the dome instead of just one sound and no lights which conserves battery energy while in the box.

You also have a choice of either attaching the display base mounting plate which allows you to put the ship on the diplay stand or the regular Shuttlebay Panel.

One of the things the I think sets this toy apart from previously released Star Trek toys is the detail given to the paint job. Each hull plate has been individually painted on along with the ship registery to give it a very realistic look.

Here is a look at Art Ayslum's NX-01 compared with Playmates NCC-1701-E and NCC-1701. As you can see the NX-01 is a bit smaller in scale but then again the NX-01 really should be smaller than any other Enterprise ships. Though I really liked Playmates line of Starship toys I am really excited about the possibilties of getting a new Enterprise-E and hopefully never berfore released Enterprise-A from Art Ayslum.

The NX-01 which is Starfleet's first warp-5 vessel and commanded by Captain Johnathan Archer, can be seen weekly on UPN's Enterprise television series. Art Ayslum's 12" replica of this awsome ship is showing up now at retail.
