"Industry-leading collectible company has acquired the license to distribute authentic replicas based on the cult movie classic."

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA - July 2004 - Sideshow Collectibles, designers and manufacturers of collectible products, have acquired the license to produce a new line of collectibles based on the hit film, and now cult science fiction classic, Aliens.

The second film in the Alien Legacy series, Aliens (also known as Alien 2, released in 1986 and directed by James Cameron), is the story of an ill-fated search and rescue mission for human survivors on a planet inhabited by an alien species. Aliens is the sequel to the hugely popular film, Alien which reprises Sigourney Weaver's role as Ellen Ripley, the pragmatic and strong sole-survivor from the mining vessel "Nostromo." Unlike the single alien in the first film, which kills all inhabitants of the spaceship except for Ripley, Aliens introduces a loathsome colony of Aliens, the fear-invoking extraterrestrial species whose image has become fixed in the annals of popular culture.

The Alien films have enjoyed considerable fan interest and have led to numerous sequels, novels, comic books, video games, toy and collectible lines, and a multitude of other types of merchandise. Twentieth Century Fox is also planning on the release of Aliens vs. Predator in August, 2004, the first cross-over for these two iconic sci-fi legacies.

Always eager to raise the quality and collectiblity of their products, Sideshow has gone straight to the film source and partnered with the effects wizards of Stan Winston Studios for this new line. This unique partnership provides an opportunity to leverage Sideshow Collectibles' strengths in manufacturing, distribution, marketing, and its world-wide fan base with Stan Winston Studios' artistry and technical resources. Stan Winston created the visual and special effects for Aliens, including the Alien models, which led to him winning an Academy Award(r) for his work on the film.

"There is nothing more exciting for us than having the opportunity to manage the creative product development process by collaborating with the original creators to produce an authentic and high quality collectible," said Tom Gilliland, Creative Director of Sideshow Collectibles. One of the most memorable models is the Alien itself, which was inspired by the work of acclaimed Swiss painter, H.R. Giger. The bio-mechanical figure of the Alien has become the source of numerous collectible models and statues of varying sizes and qualities.

Currently in production by Sideshow Collectibles is an amazing 1/4 scale bust replica of the Queen Alien. These replicas are being prototyped using the original molds that were used to built the puppets featured in the film by the artists a Stan Winston Studios. This replica provides a first-ever opportunity for serious film fans to own a piece of film lore and showcase the truly evil face of the Queen Alien.

The immense size of the Queen Alien will be impressive, even in a 1/4 scale bust. The texture of the model will show the Queen's dark blue/black metallic, membranous skin stretched over hard bone and cartilage, providing a hideously accurate representation of the Queen Alien from the film. Her long tendril-like arms will be positioned as if to grasp her prey, while two smaller arms are held closer to the body. The head of the model will be long and slender, ending in an open mouth set with rows of fangs. In all, this film-accurate replica will be manufactured with the same quality and detail that has become a cornerstone of the Sideshow's work and vision.

The Queen Alien is scheduled for release in the 1st quarter of 2005 and will have a suggested retail price of $945. In the tradition of Sideshow's manufacturing philosophy, the piece will be produced as a low-run limited edition. The final edition size has not been determined but will be announced prior to the release of the product. The Queen Alien will debut at the San Diego Comic Con, held July 21 - 25, 2004, at the San Diego Convention Center, at the Sideshow Collectibles booth #2029.
