Sideshow Collectibles:
Unearthed from the ancient Egyptian pyramids by a British field team of archeologists, the cursed mummy Imhotep was re-animated by the incantation of a forbidden spell by an errant member of the team. Leaving the men in abject horror, Imhotep escapes to Cairo under the guise of Ardeth Bey, Egyptian scholar. Trading the gilded vestments he once wore as a High Priest for the humble fez and robes of a modern man, Imhotep goes about secretly trying to resurrect his lost love, the beautiful princess Anck-es-en-Amon. But the road to eternal love is laced with diabolical intrigue and murder, for Imhotep stops at nothing to reincarnate her, using all the powers of the Egyptian gods of the Underworld to bring her back to him, risking his own immortality and destroying all who dare stand in the way of his obsession.
The famously dark, hypnotic stare of "Karloff the Uncanny" as Ardeth Bey is captured in remarkably lifelike form in this life-size sculpture, the first life-size bust in a series of Classic Monsters 1:1 scale busts. The gaunt visage of screen legend Boris Karloff almost appears to take breath again as sculpted by artist Mike Hill. This Ardeth Bey bust features a real felt fez, complete with tassel, and expertly tailored clothing with front tie closure. The bust is mounted on a colorful base sculpted by the Gore Group, recalling the spirit of the original movie poster. Created in "living color" from the original black and white film, the movie make-up techniques, colors and products used in the 1932 make-up design by Jack Pierce and Karloff were all thoroughly researched and taken into careful consideration in the sculpt, paint scheme and texturing of Ardeth Bey's leathery, parchment-like skin, to achieve the highest level of authenticity. Each piece is hand-numbered.
