NECA TMNT/Universal Monsters Raphel As Frakenstein's Monster Revealed

October 19, 2021
This spooky season, NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association) is thrilled and chilled to announce a Turtle-tacular new line of 7-inch scale action figures: Universal Monsters x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Working closely with Universal Brand Development and Viacom, the figures will pay tribute to the world’s most famous turtles and iconic monsters.

The first figure to be released will be Raphael as Frankenstein’s Monster, coming in early 2022. Subsequent figures set for 2022 will include a full line of TMNT characters inspired by classic icons of horror from Universal Pictures.

NECA's Ultimate format is a favorite among collectors for its complete portrayal of a character with a wide array of accessories so that many scenes can be recreated. The 5th-panel packaging also allows collectors to remove and replace the figure without damaging the packaging.

NECA is a longtime ViacomCBS partner and has produced an expansive line of TMNT collector products based on the franchise’s movies and animated series, including collector figures, prop replicas, accessories, collectibles and more—available at Target, Walmart, and local comic book stores across the United States as well as internationally through authorized distributors around the world. In 2021, NECA announced its collaboration with Universal for a Universal Monsters-inspired line and began producing highly detailed action figures based on their classic horror movies.

We were the first told you about these coming back in August when they first showed up in the Target system. Three figures so far have been revealed via those listings which include the following:

Michalangelo As The Mummy - DPCI# 323-07-8123

Raphel As Frakenstein's Monster - DPCI# 323-07-5907

Leonardo As Hunchback DPCI# 323-07-1061

These will not be store exclusives and available everywhere. Raphel is available for pre-order now at our sponsor BigBadToyStore.com.

Something about the way Raphael looks here remind me of Abe from Oddworld...

These figures look amazing. Its silly but I'm passing on these gems simply because they made my favorite turtle my least favorite monster. The turtle leader into the slave of Dr. Frankenstein. Hunchback would've been perfect for slash since slash literally looks like Hunchback...an insanely missed opportunity there.

Today the official packaging images for NECA's Universal Monsters x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimate Raphael as Frankenstein's Monster figure was revealed and on the side we can see one more figure coming in this line. We already knew besides Raphael we were getting Michalangelo As The Mummy and Leonardo As Ygor the Hunchback thanks to listings that had shown up in the Target system.Michalangelo As The Mummy - DPCI# 323-07-8123Raphel As Frakenstein's Monster - DPCI# 323-07-5907Leonardo As Hunchback DPCI# 323-07-1061

NECA also previously teased an image of Leo. Now with these new package images, besides getting our first look at Mikey as The Mummy, we are getting a glimpse of what appears to be April O' Neil as The Bride of Frakenstein. The image is blacked out but the silhouette definitely looks like the Bride's hairstyle, and who else besides April would portray a female monster? We still don't know what monster the fourth Turtle Donatello will end up being. We actually haven't seen any indications for the Donatello figure yet for this line, but it seems pretty much a given he will be included.NECA has previously stated on social media they have 8 figures already done for this line with more to come.Right now Raphel As Frakenstein's Monster is the only figure available for pre-order which you can get at places like our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and EntertainmentEarth.

I think it's a cool mash up...let's see what the rest of these turn out to look like. Don't think I'll be picking them up but hey, never know.

So are we sure they are redoing all the classic ones because that would be epic!
