Though Matt Harvey won’t be seen on the pitching mound in 2014, you can still get his debut figure exclusively at McFarlane Toys online store! The 2014 MLB season won’t be quite the same without New York Mets ace pitcher Matt Harvey. After suffering an injury to his right elbow in 2013, he will sit out the entire year rehabbing, but during his short time in the “bigs” Harvey has already produced lasting memories.
Selected as the overall 7th pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, Harvey was instantly one of most highly touted young pitchers in all of minor league baseball. He made his way through the Mets minor league system, and on July 26th, 2012 Matt Harvey made his major league debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The hulking right hander was everything that the Mets had hoped for, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing zero runs, and striking out 11 (a Mets franchise record for strikeouts in a pitching debut). After a strong 2012, Harvey would establish himself in 2013 as one of the premier young pitchers in the game. He made his first All Star Game (and start!), and compiled a record of 9-5, with a 2.74 ERA before his season was cut short by injury.
The figure showcases Harvey from the 2013 season, wearing the Mets blue jersey, staring down a batter, surely on his way to another strikeout!
