I don't think Todd has ever looked at chase figures and rare variants as something that helps him financially. He thinks they're fun. Back when gas cost $1/gallon and Spawn figures cost $10, and there were Spencer's Gifts and Suncoast stores at almost every mall and FYE even Walgreens carried those figures, it kinda was. Things are very different now, but nobody's ever accused Todd of changing with the times. Now that **** is pretty much just fun for him.

Yeah, I've never been sure of Todd's rationale around many things. Like you said, his mindset seems to have locked into a point in time that is long gone, and he seems to have no clue that it's just not fun for very many people other than himself.

I think Todd might also argue that some of the figures he makes chases and variants wouldn't sell otherwise. But when he makes Hathaway Catwoman, the fan choice Jade, and the preferred color/look Platinums, it's hard to sympathize with his viewpoint.

Agree on all counts!

This is one of the goofiest things I've ever seen. Six figures. But FOUR of them are chases, o when preorders go up, people will be able to order just 2 of them.

I wish someone with some real data would show what's really happening with all of this and how sales are really working out, because I don't get it. Distribution to my local Target and Walmart have just about flatlined. Almost nothing. GameStop not much better. So, can't preorder the chases. Chances of finding even the regs in store in my location are low. Chases even lower.

So how does it help Todd's company to deliberately make it so that people in my situation likely won't be able to buy a significant percentage of their product in any place other than the aftermarket? I have to be missing something.

It helps them bc it doesn't matter who buys it, just as long as somebody does. It just sucks that the actual collectors can't easily get their hands on this items.

Why does Superman have a lion's head? And why do I want it so bad?

A witch tricked him into drinking a magic potion that turned him into the animal he most resembled because he wouldn't marry her. You want it because it's awesome
