Guys, we all know that Mattel is getting the license back next year, but this isn't a Mattel thread. I think somewhere is a thread JayC started about McFarlane losing the license. If you can find it, feel free to continue the discussion there.

I would say 7".With her head dress, Evil-Lyn is about the same height as Power Girl (one of the tallest McFarlane figures).

Got it thanks.

I'm not so sure. So Mattel will have three different action figure lines going at once, all in different scales: Masterverse, Origins, and DC?

I think Mattel's line will be Masterverse-scaled.

Personally, I'm hoping for a scale compatible with Hasbro's Marvel Legends, which is likely just a touch bigger than true 1/12th scale (6") but still quite a bit smaller than the average McFarlane figure.

I'm not sure what I would prefer. I own several dozen McFarlane figures, but I only real like Power Girl, Supergirl, Knightfall Catwoman, and Batgirl. I could dump the rest and not really care. But I do really like Power Girl and I'm not sure I trust Mattel to do better than McFarlane's effort.

Having DC figures that would stand with Marvel Legends or Classified figures is kind of appealing. But would I ever do it?

So maybe I just hope for good figures and don't really care what scale they are.

You might be right. We'll find out. Mattel's DC Universe Classics and Masters of the Universe Classics weren't necessarily the same scale before when they were both being sculpted by the Four Horsemen. I think that they were often both considered 1/12th scale but the MOTUC were noticeably larger and were really 7" figures. I know a lot of people really like Masterverse and I collect them also, but I feel they're generally quite inferior to the work that Mattel was doing when working with the Four Horesemen.

Personally, I'm hoping for a scale compatible with Hasbro's Marvel Legends, which is likely just a touch bigger than true 1/12th scale (6") but still quite a bit smaller than the average McFarlane figure.

I'm anxiously waiting to find out, because DC is my 2nd favorite IP after only Marvel. I was absolutely beside myself when it was origianlly announced that McF was doing 7". I've held that against the line (and Todd himself) this entire time, even though I have several figures from the line that I truly love. However when you have hundreds of figures in a certain scale, the last thing anyone wants to do is start over in a new scale. The majority of my DC collection is still the 6" Mattel stuff. Similarly I'd expect people that didn't collect the Mattel DC line and were fully in on McF would be equally peeved if it changed back. Somebody isn't going to be happy either way.

I'm half sad and half glad to see McFarlane lose the DC multiverse license. Let's hope Mattel does better this time around and make more serious looking figures rather than the too toyish looking figs they made. I'm sure they'll make it in the 6-6.5 inch range.

One of the great things about mcfarlane losing the license is that now another company can make the figures people have been wanting, or missed, and this time around they'll be more in scale with their other 6" figures. The one thing he did that was good, was delve into soft goods capes (he got some good vehicles too I admit). Do that, use accurate figures for the characters, and bob's your uncle.

But not sure if I will pick up more DC figures, I'm tired LOL. I did DCUC, DC Direct, mafex, mezco, dc icons, dc collectibles, McFarlane etc. Mcfarlane had good sculpt and paint apps most of the time, but I think he was not looking at who was running this division as I'm not sure who approved the contract they made with their factory because that factory did some crazy mistakes with figures, articulation, inconsistency with packaging and accessories from fig to fig, inaccuracies all over (like with the 89 Batmobile having one seat instead of 2, and I get that the Kenner one did also have one seat). That said we got some characters never before seen or made, or not done in a long time.
