CrossGen, which began as a well-funded and unique initiative in comic book publishing, seems to have fallen under the harsh times it's been experiencing of late.
The story initially broke in the form of a rumor found at
comicworldnews.com, claiming that most of the remaining staff had been laid off and that a bankruptcy filing had been made. Though as the weekend progressed and more bits of info slipped, it became clear that it was very likely true, and not to the surprise of many, as the company has been struggling for quite some time now.
The news has since been confirmed on several comic book news sites, in particular with the
Pulse offering a
comprehensive accounting of said struggles by the company, and
Newsarama attaining a copy of the
bankruptcy filing itself.
Apparently, the terms of the filing will allow CrossGen to continue functioning on some level to try and pull itself back up out of the muck. It might be remembered that Marvel went through a similar scenario several years back.
TNI wishes CrossGen the best of luck.
