TNI Spotlight: Shadowrun Duels

Shadowrun: Duels is the worlds first action figure game. WizKids', the creators of Heroclix have taken amazingly sculpted and painted 6" articulated action figures and combined them with a type of collectible game that promises hours of fun.

The figures represent the various Shadowrun races. Each figure comes with everything you need to play the game, including instructions, a unique tape measure, and dice.

Each figure also comes with a unique figure stand that opens up to hold all the figure's accessories. These bases also play an important role in the actual playing of the Shadowrun game. The bases contain three combat dials, which represent different parts of the shadowrunner's body. Head (initiative and movement), Body (defense), and Weapon (attack). These three area's can all take damage separately of one another. When your shadowrunner is hit, you choose where to apply damage. Too much damage in one area, and your shadowrunner can be taken out of the game for good.

The equipment your figure has is the key to winning the game. Shadowrunner's come with weapons and gear tuned to their specific strengths and weaknesses. The gear that comes with each runner can be used by any other figure, allowing for almost unlimited play combinations. Players can mix and match gear to create customized figures for battles. Each piece of gear has dice associated with it. Die rolls determine attack success, and the more dice you roll, the better chance you have to hit. But watch out for Bad Karma: If you roll the same number on multiple dice, those dice are removed from the attack!

Dice not only help determine if you hit or miss, but they also aid in movement, initiative, and defense. Dice management is important; you might equip enough gear to bring ten dice, but you can use only six at a time.

Each shadowrunner has a limited number of slots to equip gear, and each piece of gear can take up any number of slots. Do you use your points to equip a medical kit for healing, or a knife for close-combat fighting? You decide before you start the game!

Each shadowrunner has a unique tape measure, which is used for both movement and attacks. The attack range of each shadowrunner is broken up into three areas: close combat (yellow), short range (blue), and long range (green). When you equip your shadowrunner, pay attention to your figure's ranges.

Now that we have gotten the details of the game out of the way, let us take a look at the actual figures. These detailed 6" figures were sculpted by design studio Plan B. Articulation for each figure differs, but some have up to 17 points so that you can bend and rotate them, allowing for dynamic battles!

So just who are the Shadowrunner's? Well the first series will include:

- Kyushi (Human)

- G-Dogg (Orc)

- Kiada (Elf)

- Silver Max (Dwarf)

- The Street Deacon (Human)

- Lothan The Wise (Troll)
