LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Dude, where's my Ashton Kutcher?
Although the "Punk'd" mastermind has been sniffing around the Warner Bros. big-screen remake of the '80s series "The Dukes of Hazzard," it's his "Dude, Where's My Car?" co-star Seann William Scott who has landed a role as one of the titular cousins, reports People magazine.
Scott, 27, will reportedly play the blond Bo Duke, whose role was originated by John Schneider, while "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville will play the brunette Luke Duke, who was first played by Tom Wopat.
"Dukes" follows the adventures of two southern cousins who like to drive fast and evade the law, namely the portly and frustrated Boss Hog and his handful of inept lawmen.
Pop star Jessica Simpson is still the front-runner to play Daisy Duke, the denim-clad babe originated by Catherine Bach, but she'll have to duke it out with the likes of Britney Spears and Jessica Biel for the role. If Simpson, 23, lands the role, it will mark her silver screen debut.
Knoxville, 33, can next be seen in John Waters' "A Dirty Shame," which opens in limited release on Friday, Sept. 24, and in the Farrelly brothers' comedy "The Ringer," which is due out in November.
Scott's film credits include the "American Pie" comedy trilogy, "Evolution," "Bulletproof Monk," "Old School," and most recently "The Rundown" opposite The Rock. He has signed up to star in the upcoming "Southland Tales" and "Sebastian Knight."
