New Details About 'Saw 2'

by Outsiders
April 4, 2005
It has long been speculated which actors would be returning to SAW 2 and today it can be confirmed that Shawnee Smith and Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) will reprise their roles in the second film for director Darren Bousman. The film will have a new main character, Det. Eric Mason (yet to be cast), who has caught the Jigsaw killer and is looking to put a stop to his current game, already in progress. That game includes a house where unlucky participants are imprisoned and forced to off each other in brutal ways (similar to how Smith's character was forced to kill an innocent man to save her own life in the first film) while a series of video cameras capture the killings. What Mason doesn't realize is that the game is unfolding right in front of him.

Filming on SAW 2 is set to begin next month in Toronto. Bousman wrote the script with a polish by original writer Leigh Whannel (who will co-produce along with fellow creator James Wan).
