Manny Coto, the showrunner for the fourth - and final - season of Star Trek: Enterprise has revealed what he had planned for the fifth season of the now-axed show.
"If we had gotten a fifth season, it would have been about the real meat of the Federation being founded," he told Star Trek Magazine. "I would have melded that to a bit of a return to the exploration theme of the show. We would have found new members to join the Federation and watched it come together in a series of episodes that would have spanned the entire season."
After Coto came on board, the series referred far more closely to other shows in the Star Trek franchise, with an appearance of an The Original Series-era starship and a finale that included characters from The Next Generation.
