Britney Spears Confirms Pregnancy

Yahoo and the AFP are reporting that US pop princess Britney Spears confirmed that she is pregnant with her first child, ending weeks of frenzied speculation over whether she was launching a new career as a mother.

"The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together," Spears and her husband of seven months, Kevin Federline, announced on the singer's website.

"There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, Love Britney and Kevin."

Spears, 23, and Federline, a 27-year-old former backup dancer in Spears' stage troupe, married secretly in September after a whirlwind romance.
