Jarret is widely regarded as one of the hardest working guys in the business so to see him finish out his contract with one company and immediately start with another is not that unusual. With WWE's animosity towards AEW it's no surprise his figure was cancelled, but as he's known to not leave any company on bad terms I'm sure it has more to do with the WWE rather than Jarret himself.
I'm a little Mr.T'd out (recently got his ultimate edition and scored a Neca Clubber Lang v.2 for as cheap as I'm gonna get it-which wasnt that cheap) but, anyway, think I will get that Superstars T. I think that's his BA Baracus attire when Piper interviewed him on the set of the A-Team. And I think the yellow tights is a callback to the airbrushed wrestlemania 1 poster.
If I was to vote for the next wave of figures that we havent seen yet these would me my votes:
Retros (Hasbro style):
Heenan Family wave withBobby Heenan, King Kong Bundy, Big John Studd, and Paul Orndorff.
Superstars wave (Remco style):
A tag team wave with Harlem Heat and the Steiner Brothers
Ultimates:
We need an Ultimates Roddy Piper but given that we have several in Hot Rod shirts my preference would be to see him either in that classic Panthor shirt or that red shirt with the Superman logo (licensing would obviously be a factor). Or better yet make it an even more deluxe Ultimate by selling it as part of a Pipers Pit set.
Legends:
Now that they did DX army in Legends we need to keep that going with them doing all the NWO characters they can that theyve never done as NWO. So give me Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner, the Disciple Brutus Beefcake, Silver and Black heavyweight champion Bret Hart, silver and black Jeff Jerrett, Bischoff, Elizabeth, Dibiase, Vincent, Stevie Ray, etc. (Im assuming K-Dog, Buff, etc are off the table due to not having deals with WWE). Beyond NWO my top wants for legends are Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy, Jesse Ventura, Bad News Brown, and Andy Kaufman but since those wont happen Id vote for an NWA era Harley Race, Captain Lou, Billy Kidman, and the Steiners.
I only collect the old school classic wrestlers so every year when I walk through the Mattel booth thats what I focus in on but it seemed like this year the ratio between classic characters and modern characters leaned much heavier towards classic than usual.
Lots of great stuff here. I guess my only disappointment is having Rick Rude be a build a figure in a wave where I dont really want any of the wave (Warrior would normally be the only one I would even consider-but even there I dont really feel like I need this version of Warrior). I was also hoping for some Steiner brothers now that they are in good standing with WWE.
I do love the deep cuts of Dingo Warrior and WCW AJ Styles.
Both the retros lines (Hasbro WWF style and Remco AWA style) are exciting to see getting more and more releases. So many characters that can still be done here too.
I already pre-ordered the two ultimate warriors and Hulk Hogan figure at the Ringside Collectables...???
