What you are saying about the Monster High dolls is similar to what she had said about Rainbow High, and she hasnt bought any in a good while because she finds them boring now. Shes not super into collecting dolls the same way I am with figures, so I dont think she is super bothered by it, but I can tell that the lack of variety made her lose interest.
Yeah the early days of MH were excting but that was because it was all new stuff, even then they kept adding new and unique characters, and interesting variants, but as of what almost over 10 years of this IP it's worn dry and stale, and that doesn't need to be the case, I never cared for Rainbow High myself, because instantly it was on the boring side, but I have observed a similar turn, I think the only time I had any interest was when they did a Shadow High subline, which even though it was kinda newish, it was more re-hashes in dark colors. I think this is the case of Barbie dolls as of recent even, well I mean that pool has run out of water, but they keep on pushing out same same same, I guess the main idea is that there is always a new collector, a new generation and to keep things evergreen.
Still doesn't mean they can't sprinkle some joy into it all, and no Mattelcreations overpriced madness doesn't exactly count, because that model just isn't fun in itself.

They just keep churning out the same ol, it's just zero fun, the only fun MH dolls are they uber expensive Mattelcreations offerings, wish they'd not do that, and do something like that in their main line, or at least come up with some new characters, people can't be that void of unique ideas, Consult me I can think of tons of new cool stuff.
