They didn't change his name so much as give him one. The OG file card never refers to him by anything but Crystal Ball. I believe the same goes for his recent run in the comics, where he was kind of a cult leader for the Dreadnoks.

Shown below via Roy Juarez are package images for the new Masters Of The Universe Masterverse New Eternia Ninjor figure from Mattel. This figure will be in the same wave as the New Eternia She-Ra and Terror Claws Skeletor which we first saw at Toy Fair earlier this month.
