Are you sure the figures are doing well? Aren't they putting more and more on the Mattel Creations site?
And it also seems they've pivoted away from doing pure MOTU and Masterverse figures to doing these team-up themes (which I think are doing well).
I'm actually a little worried that the He-Man boom is riding on this movie next year and that we may never get a lot of characters in Masterverse form. And the Origins Filmation figures seem to have petered out.
I still hold out hope for a Skeletor movie trooper, Entrapta, and Glimmer. But I'm not that confident any more.

It clearly costs $300.
You're making a distinction without any difference. Maybe you're joking and I just don't get it. They are charging $300, so that is the cost. It doesn't matter what fraction of that money they apply towards their expenses, production cost, R&D, salaries, overhead or whatever.
I think most of us understand the economics of scale and accept that it costs more because they cannot mass produce it to the same volume as some of the previous large items which have almost all gone on extremely deep clearance. I can understand why retailers would not seem to want more large MOTU items given that history. Thankfully the figures seem to be doing very well.
