Masters Of The Universe Origins Snake Lair Playset Crowdfund Campaign Reaches Minimum Funding Goal

August 22, 2025
The Masters Of The Universe Origins Snake Lair Playset Crowdfund Campaign has finally reached it's minimum funding goal and will be moving into production. The campaign as I type this has 6001 backers with just over 6 days left before it ends.

That means anyone who backs it will get the Snake Lair Playset, Chimera, & Fortress Accessories. Anyone who backed the campaign before August 15 will also get the Origins Skeletal Lady Slither figure.

If the campaign reaches 8k backers by the end of August 28th then it will also include Priest Pythonus Origins figure

Winner of Eternias Choice fan vote, The Snake Lair is here and better than ever with an updated design and sculpt. The Snake Lair is home base for the Snake Men and was first featured in Classic Mini Comic #5 He-Man vs. Skeletor! Their Final Battle! but never created in toy form. Now, you have the chance to bring it to life! It features a throne room for Lady Slither, with a serpentine design exactly to her liking. Unwelcome visitors will be greeted with blasters, snatched up in capture devices, and placed into the iron maiden or snake shackles. This Crowdfund starts August 1st on MattelCreations with a price of $300.

Tier 1- 6,000 to fund. Lady Slither included. Tier 2- Unlocks High Priest Pythonus Tier 3- Unlocks Chimera (Lady Slyther's Steed)

Almost funded, 8 days left! Check it out.https://creations.mattel.com/products/masters-of-the-universe-origins-snake-lair-playset-crowdfund

Thankfully the figures seem to be doing very well.

Are you sure the figures are doing well? Aren't they putting more and more on the Mattel Creations site?

And it also seems they've pivoted away from doing pure MOTU and Masterverse figures to doing these team-up themes (which I think are doing well).

I'm actually a little worried that the He-Man boom is riding on this movie next year and that we may never get a lot of characters in Masterverse form. And the Origins Filmation figures seem to have petered out.

I still hold out hope for a Skeletor movie trooper, Entrapta, and Glimmer. But I'm not that confident any more.

The playset doesnt cost $300...

It clearly costs $300.

You're making a distinction without any difference. Maybe you're joking and I just don't get it. They are charging $300, so that is the cost. It doesn't matter what fraction of that money they apply towards their expenses, production cost, R&D, salaries, overhead or whatever.

I think most of us understand the economics of scale and accept that it costs more because they cannot mass produce it to the same volume as some of the previous large items which have almost all gone on extremely deep clearance. I can understand why retailers would not seem to want more large MOTU items given that history. Thankfully the figures seem to be doing very well.
