The Haslab G.I. Joe Skystriker Gets A Cobra Makeover

by Jay Cochran
December 3, 2021
Hasbro has made one more addition for their Haslab G.I. Joe Skystriker campaign. If the campaign reaches it's minimum goal of 10k backers by 11:59 PM EST on 12/07/2021 they will throw in three additional Cobra figures and an extra sticker decal sheet so you can make it a Cobra vehicle.

The three figures now included along with ACE and Wayne Ruthel will be Cobra Commander, Cobra Soldier and a Cobra Flight Crew member. Cobra Commander will feature “Mickey Mouse” variant symbol on his chest, something the very first Cobra Commander figures had back in the 80s.

So you get the Skystriker, 5 O-ring action figures, two support vehicles, lots of missiles and blast effects, parachutes, the stand and multiple decal sheets. The cost is $229.99.

With just a little over 4 days left the campaign currently has 6,203 backers. The addition of the Cobra figures seems to be helping with the Backer counter, so we will see if it's enough to push it over the line.

Sorry to hear the third tier wasn't made, but I'm happy for everyone that backed this. I know poor Joe doesn't get enough love these days. At least now you guys can say that GI Joe got more support than a Star Wars toy.?

Oh yeah, still we got tier two and that sweet Cobra crew team... I was more excited about that Cobra team than from the Joes line up.???

If they ever do a 6" HISS Tank or Rattler, I'm in trouble. Still love the 3 3/4" stuff (have a bunch), but my collecting focus has been 6" for quite a while.

Part of me hopes they just keep doing the smaller scale stuff and spare my wallet.

I'm glad we (The Joe fans that back it up) got tier 2 Ripcord unlocked... This will prove that we are glad that O-RING is back and that Haslab GI Joe is for real and with more projects to come in the future...???

I backed 3 last night ??

Not a bad haul overall but the Spring 2023 release is a pain...

I couldn't be happier! 16,805 backers for this awesome Skystriker. I hope this means that more o-ring Joe's are on the horizon. With 30 minutes left in the campaign I caved and bought a second Skystriker. I just couldn't resist. This was a grail toy from my childhood that I never owed, but played with when visiting my cousin. He also owned the first Cobra Rattler and Kenner X-wing that I ever played with. Awesome memories. I hope Haslab keeps these dreams coming in the near future. Go Joe!

it has been updated to

16,798 Backers

I still have my Kenner X-wing I got for Christmas in 1978 or was it '79 anyway poor things laser cannons are deteriorating ? electronics stopped working a long time ago

Well according to Hasbro during Pulse-Con they have a whole line of new o-ring figures planned, so this should just be the tip of the iceberg I would think.

So best Skystiker toy to date, 7 figures, 2 support vehicles and a display/Flight stand. Overall I would say not to bad.
