HASBRO LAUNCHES NEW G.I. JOE TOY LINE TO CELEBRATE “30 YEARS OF G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO”
After nearly three decades, the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA battle rages on and legions of fans couldn’t be happier. When the fight between these two foes commenced in the early 1980’s – as G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO – it brought the world’s first action figure to life for a whole new generation of fans. To celebrate this milestone, Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS) is introducing new and updated versions of many fan-favorite characters, vehicles, and play patterns from the past 30 years. Hasbro’s 2011 G.I. JOE line will include the re-launch of 12” A REAL AMERICAN HERO figures, re-imagined versions of classic 3.75” figures and vehicles, and new characters from “G.I. Joe Renegades,” the hit animated series that premiered on the Hub last Fall.
Hasbro invented the action figure category when it launched its G.I. JOE brand more than 45 years ago. The 2011 G.I. JOE line of action figures and vehicles lives up to that legacy with new sculpts showcasing favorite G.I. JOE and COBRA characters. Fans will love adding the new STORM SHADOW, FLINT, and SCARLETT figures, among many others, to their collections and kids will enjoy the characters from the “G.I. Joe: Renegades” program showing up in action figure form.
The brigade of 3.75” figures will have iconic vehicles to add to their arsenal, including a new version of the iconic H.I.S.S. tank and the SKYSTRIKER JET. The original SKYSTRIKER JET, released early in the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA series, has been at the top of fans’ wish lists since it was discontinued in the mid 1980’s. It will come with a 3.75” pilot to help navigate G.I. JOE through treacherous COBRA territory. Also, debuting is the BLACK DRAGON Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft taken directly from the new programming.
Firefighter. Police officer. National Guardsman. Marine. These are all actual real-life heroes and Hasbro knows how important real heroes are for kids of all ages. So to help honor the heroes we see and hear about every day, Hasbro has created the 12” A REAL AMERICAN HERO action figure assortment for its 2011 G.I. JOE line. Each figure will have the distinct look of G.I. JOE and will come with authentic gear and apparel to represent both military and civil forces.
The 12” line recruits one final figure to its 2011 ranks: the 12” U.S. Army Paratrooper. This figure will come equipped with a working parachute, gear insignia, and accessories.
Yo Joe!

I like how it seems like it's a good mix of everything this year, while not being too overwhelming for collectors. Last year there wasn't enough; prior years, there was too damn much; this year is just right. Really cool how some are POC based and others are RAH with just a little bit of renegades thrown in. I have to admit that I may actually buy the Renegades Duke and Cobra Commander, they aren't bad (unlike the show). And you can bet your ass that I'm gonna buy the 12" police officer! My favourite thing this year is probably the vintage packaging they are doing for the vehicles. Effin amazing! A skystriker?! Seriously? Boo ya! Now I don't have to spend an ungodly amount on ebay to get a couple for my U.S.S. Flagg! It seems like Hasbro has really started considering the adult collectors and I sure appreciate it, so I'm not about to complain about the little things... with the exception of that SDCC exclusive bidnass... damn Hasbro.
Im digging what we are seeing since its moving back towards classic inspired figs in a lot of cases. I don't really love POC type as much as I do the classic 25th designs. Zarana I am loving and will bribe someone to get me one @loll@ Love Sci Fi, Techno Viper and Crazy Legs. Some of the newer style figs are cool too. Draven
I could really give a crap about the Zarana.......if I get her I get her. I'm not gonna lose sleep about it........But other than that there are some really good looking figures that we have coming down the line. Techno Viper- Looks absolutely FANTASTIC!!! His face plate even looks like it did on the card art of the original. Crazy Legs- Looks great as well.....could easily fit into my 25th display and not even notice a difference. Steel Brigade- Very excited to get my hands on one of these......I was always a fan of that figure and head sculpt. The SKYSTRIKER!!!! nuff said...... There is a lot of cool stuff coming in the next year....I'm hyped. There is some really cool shout outs to RAH era fans in this line. I'm liking them all.
I've got umpteen million Snake Eyes, Storm Shadows, Dukes and Destro's, but no Sgt. Slaughter and likely no Zarana's because of this idiotic decision to make them "exclusives". Of course, I've yet to see a Shock Trooper anywhere in town either, so it's not exclusive to exclusives (hey, that's a good one ) but come on people!!
man why did hasbro make zaranna a SDCC cuse that sucks and will be as bad as the srg to get. way to go hasblow. we have waited how long for a new zaranna? thanks for the pics. im so over the Se,SS,duke,CC its not funny. so seems like i get to save some more cash thanks hasbro.
The Zarana's are SDCC exclusives.
sigh
