Warner Bros.' upcoming 'Harry Potter' spinoff 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' doesn't hit theaters until November 16th and the studio has already signed on Johnny Depp to star in the sequel.

The role for Depp has not been revealed but he does appear briefly in 'Fantastic Beasts,' and stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, with David Yates directing.

Screenwriter J.K. Rowling announced during an October 13th fan event that she is planning on five movies for the 'Fantastic Beasts' franchise. The second movie is already in the works as shooting will begin next year with Redmayne as the lead and Yates returning to direct. The script was written by Rowling with David Heyman producing. Release dates for the third, fourth and fifth films have not yet been set.

The only information known about the second movie is that it will be taking place in another global capital city as New York City is the ground basis for this first movie.

“Fantastic Beasts” is set in 1926 with Redmayne arriving in New York as part of a global excursion to research and rescue magical creatures — including some hidden in his briefcase. Chaos strikes when some of the creatures are inadvertently let loose.

Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell and Jon Voight also star in “Fantastic Beasts.” It has not been announced if any of them will be joining the sequel.
