Zach Cregger is set to direct the reboot of Resident Evil and explained to
ComicBook that he believes the franchise has strong stories that deserve a new live-action adaptation, and aims to create a new vision that follows the themes and world of the original games.
“Because I love the games,” said Cregger. “I played all of the games. I played Resident Evil 4 a hundred times through. I’m obsessed with it. And so, I just want to tell a story that feels like it’s honoring the experience you get when you play the games. I haven’t seen the movies, that’s just not my thing. But the games are my thing. That’s just a playground I just love….I think the movie is going to rip. I think it’s going to rip.”
Resident Evil is scheduled for release on September 18th, 2026.

Yeah I just saw that they were doing anooother Reboot, shouldn't it have been written in the stars that this just never ever works, in the last 5 years what have we got like 2 reboots and reimagining TV Show, and nothing was good, and nobody liked it, why are we trying again? just give it a rest, clearly you all failed the can we make a Resident Evil movie test, so try something else...give us a Streets of Rage movie or something at least that should write itself.
