As romances go, few are quite as intense, complicated or otherwise enthralling as the mesmerizing chemistry between Batman/Bruce Wayne and Catwoman/Selina Kyle. Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, The Boys) and the late Naya Rivera (Glee) provide the voices of Batman and Catwoman, respectively, in Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One.
Scenes in Arkham Asylum offer another glimpse into the stylized art direction of Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One. Thats where youll find the notorious Calendar Man toying with his visitors Batman and Police Captain James Gordon seen here in the reflection of the glass front of Calendar Mans cell. David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad, Dune, Ant-Man, The Flash) provides the voice of Calendar Man opposite Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, The Boys) as Batman and Billy Burke (Twilight, Revolution, Zoo) as James Gordon.
LH-1 Coin FlipHarvey Dent gives a foreshadowing of his villainous, conflicted future when allowing a coin flip to decide his next move in a key scene from Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One. LH-1 Halloween-1st Murder
Batman: The Long Halloween covers an entire year of serial killings in Gotham City, starting with the first murder by the Holiday Killer: mobster Johnny Vitti, assassinated in his own bathtub, and an ominous jack-o-lantern left at the scene.
Attempting to ascertain the identity of the Holiday Killer, Batman (voiced by Jensen Ackles) and Police Captain James Gordon (Billy Burke) turn their attention to an in-the-know villain acutely aware of every date of the year Calendar Man (David Dastmalchian) in his appropriately decorated cell at Arkham Asylum. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment,Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Onearrives on Digital & Blu-ray on June 22, 2021.
New images from Part 1
Not that he smiles often, but Batman is particularly pushed to his most intense edges by the Holiday Killer, the Joker, two mobs and a bevy of villains in Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One. Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, The Boys) provides the voice of Batman.
Is he assisting in solving crimes, or simply toying with the crimefighters? Nobody is entirely certain where Calendar Man is concerned in Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One. David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad, Dune, Ant-Man, The Flash) provides the voice of Calendar Man.
Plagued by fear, depression and some dark secrets of her own, Gilda Dent has one of the most serious roles in Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One. Gilda is voiced by Julie Nathanson (Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay).
As a mob war builds to a crescendo, Carmine The Roman Falcone leader of the most powerful crime syndicate in Gotham City decides to align with an altogether different set of criminals as the Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One story unfolds. Titus Welliver (Bosch, Deadwood) gives voice to Falcone in.
While I wasn't that impressed with Superman movie that supposedly is set in same universe as this and JSA or at least they all share same animation style, I do find this look pretty good story adaptationso far.
It's not even close to Sale's style, but I like the artwork on the cover. Too bad the actual animation looks so plain.

Inspired by the iconic mid-1990s DC story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One begins as a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gothams young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the citys only two uncorrupt lawmen (Police Captain James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent) in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious and powerful Falcone Crime Family. But when more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that, instead of ordinary gang violence, theyre also dealing with a serial killer the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the Worlds Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.

A lot of what makes Long Halloween interesting is Tim Sale's artwork. I didn't think they would try to copy it for an adaptation, but to just go so...normal with the animation takes something away from the whole thing. Wooden voice acting, of course, doesn't help, either.
I'm a fan of the Supernatural tv series..nice to hear Jensen Ackles in a new project.
RIP to Naya Rivera
