According to a recent report from
Variety, it has been confirmed that Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, and Jason Momoa will not be reprising their respective roles in the new shared superhero universe being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. This decision means that Affleck will not be returning as Batman, Cavill will not be portraying Superman, Gadot will not be playing Wonder Woman, Miller will not be portraying the Flash, and Momoa will not be reprising his role as Aquaman in any future DC projects released after the upcoming film "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" in 2023.
However, according to insiders close to DC, there are discussions taking place regarding Momoa potentially taking on a different character in Gunn and Safran's DCU. It is rumored that Momoa may be in talks to portray the character Lobo, also known as the Main Man, in either "Superman: Legacy" or another project in the future.
Lobo, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, first appeared in 1983's Omega Men #3. He is the last survivor of the planet Czarnia, having exterminated all other inhabitants. Lobo is renowned as a bounty hunter who aligns himself with whoever offers him the most lucrative rewards. While Lobo has been featured in various animated adaptations, he made his live-action debut in the second season of Syfy's "Krypton," portrayed by Emmett J. Scanlan.
