Neve Campbell Returning As Sidney Prescott; Original Scream Writer Kevin Williamson To Direct Next Scream Movie

According to Deadline, Neve Campbell has taken to her social media platforms today to announce her return as Sidney Prescott. Additionally, she revealed that the original Scream writer, Kevin Williamson, will be directing the film, which is based on a script written by Guy Busick.

The production of the film, led by Spyglass, has faced challenges in recent months due to the departure of star Melissa Berrea. Berrea was released from the project following controversial comments she made on social media regarding the Israel and Hamas conflict. Additionally, Jenna Ortega had to leave the film due to scheduling conflicts, causing doubts about the possibility of a new Scream movie. Unfortunately, Campbell's return will not expedite the progress of the next installment.

Currently, no release date has been announced for the upcoming film.
