Collider.com is reporting that Paramount have set the date for the sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and the action hits the screen on August 10th, 2012.
The sequel is being written by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick with the helm being taken over by Jon Chu. The first movie was directed by Stephen Sommers and was set to return but bowed out in January. Also, not returning are a majority of the characters from the first movie as Rachel Nichols, who portrayed Scarlett, confirmed via Twitter that only a handful of characters from the first film will return for the sequel. Set to return are Lee Byung-hun (Storm Shadow), Ray Park (Snake Eyes) and Channing Tatum (Duke).
