Things get more complicated with the
Target exclusives G.I. Joe: Classified figures. Originally the figures which include
Beach Head, Cobra Trooper, Roadblock v2 and
Baroness on C.O.I.L Bike were said to go on sale at Target stores starting on 8/14.
Then word began to spread that Target stores were already getting at least the single packed figures in stock and they would be putting them out on pegs after they completed their toy aisle reset, which was taking place this week. Hasbro then on their social media officially announced the on sale date for the figures for both online and at physical stores would be 8/1. Of course apparently someone forgot to tell Target that, because their system was still reflecting the 8/14 date. That however didn't stop many Target stores from going on and releasing the figures already as they completed their resets.
Now to confuse things even more, Hasbro just today announced that the figures will only be sold at physical stores on 8/1, and that the online sale date would remain the original 8/14 date. Of course the little palm machines that Target employees carry around with them are still saying 8/14 even though the registers will allow people to check out with the figures now. I personally bought a Beach Head and Cobra Trooper at my local Target today after finding them out on pegs. When I left that Target had 1 Beach Head and 1 Cobra Trooper left. Originally each store should have gotten at least 1 case for each figure that contained 6 figures each.
Oh and while the single packed figures have been showing up at physical stores, the
Baroness with Bike has not. As far as we can tell she is still MIA, and I would not expect to see her out on shelves this coming Saturday, even if Target and Hasbro can actually get on the same page about the 8/1 sale date being the official one.
On a side note we also have more images of G.I. Joe product from the Hasbro Fan Expo event taking place this week in Hong Kong. These images come via
ToysWalker-Dick.Po and they give us more looks at the Classified line as well as some of the 3 3/4" Retro figures which will be sold as Walmart exclusives here in the US.
