Jason W. Schiermeyer with his friend and sculptor Matt Lecroy to create a new line of 1/18th scale O-ring inspired military action figures with Strike Force Alpha. In order to make this line of figures happen they have launched a new Kickstarter Campaign to make it happen. With 25 days to go they have obtained $52,044 of their $77,000 goal that they need to reach to get these figures into production.

They have also brought on board Bill Merklein to work on this line. For those not familiar he is a sculptor who worked for Hasbro and their G.I. Joe line bringing over 70 figures to life. He has sculpted their Dr. Diablo figure.

Since we have been let down many times with modern day offerings and lack of O-ring style figures on the market, we decided to update the O-ring design a little bit and manufacture our own O-ring inspired figures. With multiple retro lines on the market that have been faithful to the originals, why have O-ring figures been ignored and left out? We don’t know either but with your support, we can change that.

Let’s bring back the type of toys we loved to collect and play with while we were growing up. Although our figures look, feel, and move just like classic O-ring figures, internally they are quite different than toys from the past. These changes were made to retain the classic look but bring the production of these figures more up to speed with modern manufacturing methods.

We eliminated the rivets and went with a male plug and female socket that eliminates the dreaded cracked elbow often found on vintage figures. We sculpted rivets on our arms, so they still look like vintage figures. We eliminated the O-ring which is prone to breakage and replaced with a ball and socket. This new design retains all the movement and possibility of the old design. We added a hidden ball joint on the neck that makes head swaps a quick and painless task. We implemented a design we call “pop and swap” in the arms and lower legs. This allows for quick change out of the arms and lower legs without the need for tools. Just pop the old part of and swap for the new one. Why do we need quick change out parts? This allows us to create head, weapons, and accessory packs for easy customer customization.
