New G.I. Joe Comic License Holder Still A Mystery

Last week a relatively unknown comic company by the name of Power Comics Inc. seemed to be heavily teasing an announcement was coming this week in regards to G.I. Joe on their social media.

Since we are still waiting to hear who will be taking over the G.I. Joe license from IDW in 2023, we thought that might have been what they were going to announce. We were wrong. Turns out their announcement really had nothing to do with GIJoe comics.

So the mystery remains on who might be taking over G.I. Joe but Larry Hama has recently posted on his Facebook page that he is back to work and halfway through writing the plot for G.I. Joe #303, so sounds like who ever is taking over he will be continuing his work and long running title that originally started under Marvel with them.

Back in December 2021 there were indications that Robert Kirkman’s Skybound was looking to start publishing both Transformers And G.I. Joe Comics after the IDW run, so perhaps that is where the license will end up at, only time will tell.

The next G.I. Joe live-stream from Hasbro will be taking place next week on March 8, so possibly we could get an update on this during that event.

Ever since word leaked back in 2021 that IDW was loosing both the G.I. Joe and Transformers comic book license, people have wondered who would be taking over. Well it looks like we might have gotten our answer at least when it comes to G.I.Joe.A company which honestly I had never heard of before today by the name of Power Comics Inc. might be doing G.I. Joe. They posted on their social media along with a G.I. Joe logo the following:

Power Comics has a pretty big announcement coming next Wednesday March 1st.

Assuming the announcement for G.I. Joe next week is that they are taking over the license, this would be the fourth company to produce them. Marvel was the first followed by Devil's Due and most recently IDW. We will be sure to update you here with the details next week.

It seems like Krikman really wants to make this company more than just his titles but I wonder wont be these new Transfomers and G.I.Joe comics be under image banner too, because all Skybound comics I have seen are with image logo, since it seems that actual publishing is done by Image, unless they are going even more independent.
