The following press release was released by Wizards Of The Coast for the announcement of the cancellation of the G.I. Joe Trading Card Game.
Wizards of the Coast is continually evaluating all of its toy and game products to ensure they meet our high standards of design and playability and fulfill our commitments to the shareholders of Hasbro, Inc. We have been thrilled to bring fans of the GI JOE vs. COBRA saga the excitement and action of this classic storyline in the form of a collectible Trading Card Game. Unfortunately, it was decided to conclude this product line with the February release of the ARMORED STRIKE expansion. Despite our best efforts to bring to market a fun, interactive, high quality game, demand was - unfortunately - not at a level that allows us to continue to produce additional expansion sets.
Wizards of the Coast had a great experience with GI JOE and will, of course, continue to support players through our customer service department. We will keep general product information on the Wizards of the Coast website for the foreseeable future and anticipate the collectability of the fantastic GI JOE TCG cards and game accessories to continue for years to come.
