Defenders #1: TNI Comic Book Review

The Defenders #1
When humor and comics mix.



First thing I have to say is wow! I can’t even start out this review without saying this was one of the best books out this week period. For a person who doesn’t even like Namor, Hulk, or Dr. Strange, this is saying a lot. Let me get on with the review now.

Dr. Strange is trying to recruit heroes to take on Umar and Dormammu and stop there plans of taking over the world. Strange runs into many problems trying to recruit help. Namor and Bruce Banner simply do not want to be bothered with it. After finally convincing them to come the two get into an argument right away. I’ve never laughed so hard at a comic until I saw Namor and Bruce fighting. Bruce Banner insulted Namor so many times it was beyond priceless. My favorite line:

Bruce: “Y’know, I’ve been meaning to ask you- -Did you ever actually find Nemo… or are you still looking?”

And Namor’s priceless reaction:

”If I knew what that meant- - I would kill you where you stand!”

The great thing is, the book continues to impress, towards the end we find out why Silver Surfer declined to join. He denied membership due to the fact he was hanging out with surfers! He feels he has found people he can relate to…..

What I have said so far isn’t even the majority of the story. These are the same guys behind Formerly Known as the Justice League, so I had no doubt. It seems they may already be topping there past stories.

I honestly can’t say more then try this mini out! If you have been looking for a funny Marvel title and not all that dark House of M in your face stuff, check this out. Remember when comics were fun? This one is a perfect example. 10 out of 10 here.
