In the wake of House of M and amidst Decimation, the Academy is gone and the New X-Men are forming a brand new team of mutants including the deadly fan-favorite X-23 starting in New X-Men #20.
To kick off this brand new era for the New X-Men, Marvel is offering a special X-23 variant cover to New X-Men #20 by Billy Tan, the artist behind the X-23 mini-series.
The new creative team of writers Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost along with artist Mark Brooks are promising an all-new direction for the New X-Men. The first issue for the new team starts right after the events of House of M #7 and runs concurrently to House of M #8, as the kids of the Xavier Institute are forced to deal with the serious change that has occurred to the world. Friendships will be tested and not everyone at the school is guaranteed to live through this tremendous change.
Writers Kyle and Yost are excited to be able to bring what they have loved so much about the X-Universe for so many years to the New X-Men: a team of young mutants still in-training trying to save a world that hates and fears them.
“Chris and I are HUGE X-fans and we’re bringing our love for this world to the pages of this series,” says co-writer Craig Kyle. “In the 80’s, mutants were hunted, hated, and on the brink of extinction. During this time, the X-Men faced off against their greatest foes and the New Mutants were forced to fight a war they weren’t prepared for… This is the world that awaits the children of the Xavier Institute starting in issue 20 of New X-Men.”
With their childhood ended and school out forever, Kyle goes even further to give fans more of a glimpse of what the future holds for the New X-Men. Kyle promises “classic X-villains, huge stakes, big action, real consequences, true love, lots of laughs, and a ton of blood… If you love the X-Men, then this is the book for you! Nuff said.”
The new creative team of Kyle, Yost, and Brooks are no stranger to successful teen hero titles. Mark Brooks is the powerhouse artist behind the wildly successful Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #1 and Kyle and Yost are the writers behind the insanely successful X-23 mini-series.
This new lineup consists of former New Mutants and Hellions including Rockslide, Dust, Elixir, Surge, Hellion, Mercury along with the addition of the dangerous and unstable X-23.
Kyle, Yost, and Brooks are taking the New X-Men into a brand-new direction and you don’t want to miss out on the beginning of a new era for both the Marvel Universe and these young mutants in New X-Men #20.
