The all-new, all-different Scorpion is here. Fueled by international intrigue and intense spy action, Scorpion: Poison Tomorrow Digest features the new Scorpion’s scintillating debut.
In a Marvel.com online poll voted on by the fans, Scorpion was the winning character to receive a revamp in the pages of Amazing Fantasy. Featured here are exclusive never-before-seen early designs by Leonard Kirk of Scorpion and her cast.
The response from both fans and critics has been overwhelmingly positive for the introduction of this new Marvel Universe character with mysterious ties to the Incredible Hulk.
Hilary Goldstein of IGN.com says, “The new Scorpion's awesome and should enjoy a long life at Marvel.”
Ain’t It Cool News says, “Scorpion’s story continues to impress.”
"From the very beginning we wanted Scorpion to be a girl-friendly, romance-filled, action-packed, globe-trotting espionage adventure set in the most exotic corners of the Marvel Universe, and I think we succeeded,” says writer Fred Van Lente. “I couldn't be prouder of this book. Everybody, from penciler Leonard Kirk and cover artist James Jean on down to the letterers and the colorists poured their heart and soul into this arc.”
The new Scorpion is teenager Carmilla Black, a runaway who is called back to her hometown after her two adopted parents are murdered. Upon arriving, Carmilla is thrust into a high-stakes game of espionage, where she learns that her true mother is actually one of the top scientists for the worldwide terrorist network A.I.M, which also received a revamp to make them power-players in the Marvel Universe again.
Carmilla also learns why death has always followed her as she discovers that she has a deadly poisonous power that can kill a person on contact. On a mission to discover her true identity and unravel the mystery behind her new powers, Carmilla becomes the new Scorpion and heads out to get answers from the only person who has them: her mother.
“Poison Tomorrow’ is at its heart a Gothic, inverted fairy tale -- Carmilla Black discovers she's the heir to this evil kingdom, A.I.M., and she has to decide whether she's going to succumb to her dark destiny or fight against it by working with S.H.I.E.L.D,” says Van Lente.
Scorpion has followed up her debut by appearing as a major player in one of the most popular House of M tie-ins of the summer in Incredible Hulk. Scorpion’s future looks brighter than ever as what exactly her ties are to the Incredible Hulk have yet to be revealed. One thing is certain and that is Scorpion’s future is sure to be filled with even more adventure, espionage, and action.
Don’t miss out on what many are calling the best new character of 2005 in Scorpion: Poison Tomorrow Digest, collecting Amazing Fantasy #7-12.
