Reports are being made over on the
He-Man.org forums of someone finding a shelf full of Masters of the Universe Classics Roboto and Gygors figures at a Moreno Valley, CA Wal-Mart. The first image shown below was speculated by some to be fake but then He-Man.org user Dredgen posted a new image of his purchase with receipt.
Roboto was selling for $16.97 and Gygor was selling for $24.97. It is unclear how or why Wal-Mart is selling these since both figures are supposed to be sold exclusively through Mattel's MattyCollector.com website. In fact Wal-Mart is selling these two figures cheaper than what Mattel had sold them for.
Are these figures left overs that somehow Wal-Mart ended with to sell on clearance, or are they testing the Masters of the Universe Classics waters, and could this be sign of them returning to mass-retail sometime soon?
As much of a stir this seems to be causing with the MOTUC collecting community, I am sure Mattel will be making some sort of statement soon about this latest occurrence. Thanks to the folks at the
Masters of the Universe Classics Facebook fan page for the heads up.
Let us know what you think, are these figures showing up at Wal-Mart a good thing or bad????
