During a panel held by Mattel at the Power Con convention today it was announced that the first vehicle for their new 5.5" Masters of the Universe: Origins line coming to retail later this year would be the Sky Sled with Prince Adam figure for $29.99.

They also announced their single packed 5.5 figures would cost $14.99 each and include new mini-comics. The first wave which we saw at SDCC includes He-Man, Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, Beastman, Evil Lyn and Teela. Other figures teased for the future include Orko, Man-E-Faces and Scareglow. Trap Jaw was also announced and should have a pic soon for that one.

Battle Cat which was announced earlier today will cost $24.99. Besides the 5.5" figures they announced a line of Origins mini 2-pack ffigures which will cost $4.99 each and come in Grayskull style packaging.

Look for all of these on retail shelves in time for the holiday season.

Nice looking figure...

Be a shame if something were to happen to it...

The few details that we know about Origins 'til now:

Thanks for the additional information. The inclusion of mini comics is a real good idea, not a bad deal for $15. Might need to hop onto this line after all.

In fact, something of concern to some is that we have almost no information about the film.

You have reason to be concerned. They've been trying to get a new MOTU film into theaters since just after the Lundgren picture released.

Sure, there's been some promising movement this time, but nothing to make me believe this'll be any different than all the other times.

If that was the plan, the reaction from the fan community was not very favorable.

Well what it's important is that we are getting new figures at a retail store and not just the online exclusive Matty collector store like it was before... Online retail stores would also be carrying if I'm not mistaken like the bigbadtoystore, toywiz, etc...

I don't deny that, it's just that they should have mentioned it before to avoid possible misunderstandings.

Probably those news have been kept as a secret from management at Mattel to see the reaction of the public or to not damage their relation with other retail stores...
