NECA yesterday held their first ever panel at
Power-Con. A lot of what was shown and said was just a reiteration of what they had on hand a few weeks ago during
SDCC. However they did have a few pieces of additional information to share about upcoming products for
Gargoyles, TMNT and more. Thanks to
Rick's Nerd Life, here is a breakdown of what was said during the panel.
For
Gargoyles they confirmed that
Demona's folded wings will be included with
Xanatos.
For their recently announced
Dinosaurs Earl Sinclair figure they showed an alternate head that will be included with the figure.
For the
TMNT Animated series line they confirmed a new
April O' Neil figure was coming that will feature a new head, retooled body and tons of accessories. There were also indications that we might see new versions of
Casey Jones and
Shredder as well, but nothing specific or confirmed on those two.
No word yet on how those
Animated Series Baby Turtles figures shown at SDCC will be released.
Because of the new
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie coming in 2023, you can expect Target to start really ramming up their
TMNT offerings next year which will include NECA stuff. That's not saying NECA themselves are doing product for the movie but that Target will be carrying TMNT more in general which will include the
NECA Cartoon Dio Playset.
In regards to the three
Animated Series TMNT Sewer Lair Dio's they showed at
SDCC, the first one which will be the Living Room playset should go up for pre-order next month (September), and it will be a pre-order not a crowd-source thing. Still no word on pricing for those as of yet. They did show how it connects to the Street Dio (see below) and confirmed that the tunnel ports will open up so you can view into the lair from the sides.
During the panel Randy Falk said that the
Archie line will continue so long as there is support and that they are testing the waters on how much demand there is with the Mutanimals that had been previously announced and shown. Randy would also like to do Wrestling Turtles.
As mentioned at SDCC, The IDW Last Ronin stuff has become it's own subline that they plan to go deep on which will include spinoffs, possibly referring to the recent prequel series that was announced by IDW.
When asked about the possibility of
NECA doing a
Technodrome, which more specifically I believe this is in regards to the
Technodrome dio playsets they have shown on display at previous cons, this is something
NECA wants to do but needs to get the
Sewer sets our first and see how they do.
No plans to release the
Dark Turtle figure outside of the
LootCrate offerings. As to whether we will see NECA release anymore TMNT figures through
LootCrate, that remains unknown at this time. While nothing was specifically said, Rick's impression was that if it was up to Randy, they would not.
