Last week during the
San Diego Comic Con event
NECA had on hand quit a few
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products on hand for the
Animated Series, Last Ronin, Mirage Comics and
Archie Comics. While we showed you images, I wanted to take a moment and breakdown the new items
NECA had on hand with as much info that was made available during the event.
As always the
Animated stuff will be released as
Target store exclusives and the comic stuff will be available at places like our sponsors
BigBadToyStore and
Entertainment Earth.
NECA may also choose to offer some of the Target stuff on their own online store as we have been seeing them do more and more.
For the
TMNT IDW Last Ronin figures which has become it’s own sub-line, we saw revealed at SDCC the
Flashback Raphael and
Leonardo figures along with a
Cyborg FOOT Soldier who join the previously seen
Last Ronin Armored and
Unarmored figures. We also got a look at the packaging for the first two figures which features artwork from
Ben Bishop who worked on the comics.
For the
TMNT Universal Monsters Mash-Up line we got a full look at the
Donatello as the Invisible Man along with
Splinter as Van Hellsing. Nothing new beyond that was revealed for this line but indications were that more figures are coming.
For the
Mirage Comics Line we got our first look at the
Triceraton Soldier Zog, as well as the
four Turtles which are based on the “Return To New York” story arc. Also for the Mirage line they had
Splinter, Casey Jones and the
Shredder Clones. The art work on the packaging for these is being done by
Kevin Eastman who is doing all new work for them.
Finally for the
80s’s Animated Series line we got looks at a set of
Baby Turtles, the
Mona Lisa & Dirk Savage 2pk, Lotus Blossom and Chakahachi, Mighty Bebop and Rhinoman, Deluxe Brick Bradley As Bugman and
Deluxe REX-1.
NECA also showed off
Diorama Sewer Modular Playsets that they do plan on releasing to consumers. These were not just on-hand for display purposes. They plan to release the
Living Room set followed by the
Kitchen Set and
Donny’s Lab. The
Kitchen set will be smaller and a bit cheaper than the other two. Once you have all three sets you can put them together to re-create the
Turtles Sewer Lair. Also if you have the
Street Diorama set they previously released, the plan is for that to be able to sit on top of these so it looks like the sewer lair is truly underground. They also plan to pack these sewer diorama’s with most if not all the furniture and accessories seen in the images from SDCC. The plan is to try and release these 1 per quarter with the first one being the
Living Room set which we could see offered in late August or September time frame. No word on price and whether these will be offered exclusively online or also be available at Target stores.
The
Dimension X Portal seen in the sewer diorama sets is also something they plan to do but would be sold separately and come with different screens you can switch out. Likely that will be an online exclusive.
Also it was mentioned at SDCC that for those who missed it during the Haul-A-Thon event, the
Animated Series Tokka and Rahzar figures would be returning again likely in September.
NECA didn’t really have anything new on hand for the movies, however they will be showing products off next weekend at
Power-Con and then again at
NYCC, so plenty of chances for more reveals to come. Until then you can check out images of all the
TMNT stuff on display at SDCC below.
