Todd McFarlane Confirms Medieval Spawn As His Next Kickstarter And More

Todd McFarlane has released a new video as part of the WonderCon at home event going on this weekend. In the video talks about various things including toys, comics and his Spawn movie.

Most of the things he talks about in the video are things we've heard him say before, but I just wanted to recap a few things that stood out to me. First he confirms that the next Kickstarter that will launch later this year will be for a new Medieval Spawn figure. Last October Todd had mentioned he was thinking about Medieval Spawn for the Kickstarter treatment, but no its 100% confirmed as happening. More details should be coming soon. He says it will be run even better than the first Kickstarter. He also suggested they might do more than one Kickstarter this year.

He also talks about doing more Spawn figures at general retail. Nothing really specific. At one point while he is talking about Spawn figures, they show up an image of a Violator figure being painted which you can see a screen cap for below. We've also seen him previously tease other Spawn figures like Cowboy Spawn and Redeemer Spawn

Todd also mentioned his company is going to soon be announcing 7 new licenses for action figures they will be doing. I suppose some of these will include things like the Disney Mirrorverse figures we've previously reported on. He mentions it will be things based on TV shows and movies.

He mentions how he is going to be doing more artist proof (unpainted) figures for as many of his lines as possible. The artist proof figures is something they had been doing with their Warhammer figures, and it looks like we could start to see similar figures in other lines like DC Multiverse.

In the video he mentions they are working on a new Batmobile and something bigger. It's not clear if this is going to be another Build-A-Batmobile type thing or something that would be in scale with 7" figures. When he was showing hand gestures for size while talking about this in the video, it didn't seem like it would be something in actual 7" scale.

Todd McFarlane today held a live-stream on the McFarlane Toys YouTube channel where he stated that he was looking to launch his Medieval Spawn Kickstarter that has been years in the making should be launching in early 2024. He stated he wanted to havethe prototype and everything from the factory for that approved and ready to go so that once the campaign ends (Assuming it reaches it's funding goal), it will not take very long to get it into people's hands. Todd didn't commit to any kind of specific date for when the campaign will start, but simply said they wanted to get past Christmas and should be launching it in early 2024.

Hmmm...not sure how I feel about this one. Incredible detail, obviously, but not crazy about that head/helmet. Reminds me strongly of some Kaimen Rider characters or something.

I guess we can say this one has been years in the making since it was over 2 years ago Todd first started teasing he was going to be doing another Kickstarter for a Medieval Spawn figure. In fact since those early days McFarlane Toys has released a general retail version figure of the character which led many of us to believe the Kickstarter one had been put in mothballs, at least until late yesterday. While Todd hasn't put out official details you can see below via SHH, the upcoming Kickstarter version of Medieval Spawn is still coming, and coming soon. Word is the figure will cost around $40 for the regular version and $80 for an autographed version by Todd himself. No exact word yet on when the Kickstarter will launch, but again word is SOON!

Todd McFarlane today as part of his Toy Fair reveals posted a video that focused on the new Spawn figures we showed you earlier today including the Deluxe Spawn with throne, Ninja Spawn, Overtkill, Haunt and a variant Raven Spawn. In this video he also teased his new Medieval Spawn by giving us a glimpse of it from the back. You may recall last March Todd had said Medieval Spawn was going to be his next Kickstarter Campaign. In this video he says he will be doing another video likely this weekend about Medieval Spawn where I am guessing he will give full details for the Kickstarter. Of course when he does we will be sure to update you.
