Last month we told you how
McFarlane Toys started doing unpainted artist proof figures for their
DC Multiverse line, something they first started doing with their
Warhammer 40k stuff. The big difference between how they released the unpainted
Warhammer figures and these
DC Multiverse ones is, the
Warhammer figures were released as completely separate figures. With the
DC Multiverse ones, they have made them part of the
Platinum Edition line which simply means they are mixed in the same cases as the regular figures and released as chase variants.
So now people who pre-ordered and wanted the regular green painted
Swamp-Thing figure are instead finding they are getting these unpainted ones arriving at their doorsteps.
In the long run the unpainted ones will likely be harder to come by then the painted ones, but if you wanted the regular version I can understand why some might not be to happy getting the unpainted one instead.
McFarlane may want to rethink the whole chase thing and just offer these as separate releases like they have done with the
Warhammer ones. Thanks to
Tcc for the image.
