I also ran into the red masked version on Amazon, overall I like this figure , I've been very selective with my toddfather purchases but I might definitely grab one of these , tho I'm leaning more for the red one
The Platinums are random through Amazon also. Some Canadian online retailers will sell the Platinums separately as well, but they're usually higher than the $39.99 mentioned for BBTS. It's usually anywhere from $49.99-$64.99 USD, but of course depends on the demand. Most plats can be found on ebay for around $40-$50. McFarlane also has a Run Fair EQL program that lets you enter for a chance to purchase a platinum for retail price + shipping. I got the Christopher Reeve platinum that way this past month, but wasn't chosen for the opportunity to purchase the Mr. Terrific platinum. My win rate on the EQL is probably around 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 when I enter. At normal retail it's usually a case of 6 with one of the 6 being a Platinum, but that can certainly vary as well. When they do those platinums that don't have a regular variant (like Question, Shining Knight, etc) they're often different packouts.
The Mr. Terrific is just another example where McFarlane made the arguably more highly desired version the harder to find Platinum. It's getting annoying, like a lot of the stuff McFarlane does.

you CAN get Platinum figures from EE though
I don't think you can get Platinum figures from BBTS randomly. They split them out and sell them for 39.99.

You can find both at Walmart in the collector section in Electronics. One of my local stores had 1 common and 5 Platinum about 10 days ago, so I had no trouble getting the Superman III variant.
