TNI Comic Book Review: Countdown To Infinite Crisis

Countdown to Infinite Crisis

80 pages for only $1! That alone is a hard deal to pass up regardless of if you are not a DC reader. Identity Crisis started it all. Hard to believe ID Crisis is only the beginning of huge things to come. So now we are at DC’s Countdown to Infinite Crisis. At first I thought this was going to be the big book, but this is still just the beginning of even bigger things to come.

So enough about that, we are now at the starting point of mind-blowing events. Is it the best book out right now because of the price? Or is it not only the price but the story as well? Oh and by the way this review will contain spoilers.

Countdown’s main character was Blue Beetle. We get to view the DC Universe though his eyes. Now this I like because Blue Beetle is easy to relate to. He is a hero the average fan can relate to. Anyone who wasn’t familiar with Blue Beetle before this comic will feel for the character. Countdown is really a great introduction to any new DC reader.

It was sad to see how some of the heroes treated him. Black Canary, Oracle, Batman (I can understand his actions a little seeing he is edgy about the mind wipe and all) and Martian Manhunter the most, should feel like pure crap for the way they treated him or even said about him.

It was great to see Superman and Hal Jordan hear him out. I forgot how Hal used to be and it made me remember Hal was a real cool guy and a character easy to get along with. Wonder Woman really earned even more respect. She didn't have to even wait for him to revive but she did and treated him with respect.

Now this was a sad book, as we loss Blue Beetle for the sake of bringing the bigger things I was talking about. I honestly thought DC wouldn’t kill Beetle. He was already in a near death experience from the Doomsday battle back then.

Now Blue Beetle’s death isn’t the biggest surprise, it is who kills him that is more shocking. Now I can’t go into detail with that, can’t just give away the whole issue. Buy it and you won’t regret it.

The top 3 writers of DC Comics pulled quite a story from nowhere here. The art teams as well really hit a home. This is DC at its finest. You can only wonder what will happen next.

This book gets 10 out of 10 here. Outstanding read. You will find yourself reading this over and over again. DC has pulled out the best comic of the year so far. Can they keep it up? We will find out when OMAC Project #1 hits stands.
