Sideshow Collectibles has secured the rights to produce a range of pre-painted resin collectible figures based on the Warhammer 40,000 Universe. This new product is called Warhammer 40,000 Collectibles.

There will be 4 different figure releases every quarter. The Series 1 product is titled: Space Marines Warriors of the Imperium. These first figures, released this November 2002, are Tactical Marines of the Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Blood Angels and the Space Wolves chapters. Later releases will include other chapters and different types of Space Marines for the various chapters. The collectible figures are hand cast and hand painted limited editions that stand approximately 5" tall. These highly detailed figures will debut at a suggested retail price of $25 each. Sideshow will debut the first series of figures at the San Diego Comic Con, August 1-4, 2002.

This new relationship sees Games Workshop and Sideshow Collectibles working very closely together to make this new license a success. Games Workshop will be responsible for the design of the product from the figures to the packaging while Sideshow will be responsible for the manufacture and sale of the product.

Jon Gillard, Head of New Business Development for Games Workshop said:

"We have had a close association with Sideshow on the Lord of the Rings movie license for a couple of years now, and have found them to be like minded people and great to work with. We are very excited about this new opportunity, taking our incredibly detailed worlds and imagery to collectors of cool imagery the world over, and in particular to be working with Sideshow on it. It’s a very powerful partnership, which will, I’m sure, lead to a wide variety of fantastic products.

Greg Anzalone, President of Sideshow Colectible said:

"The Warhammer 40K Universe is full of amazing characters that we are pleased to be producing as pre-painted collectible statues. We believe there is a broad audience outside of the traditional game play that will gravitate to and be inspired by these warriors."

About Sideshow Toy:

Located in Westlake Village, California, Sideshow is a specialty market manufacturer of licensed and proprietary collectible products. Founded in 1993 as Sideshow Productions, the company began as a provider of make-up effects, props and animatronic puppets for the film industry. In 1994, Sideshow expanded and began to provide design and development services to toy manufacturers. Over the next four years, the Sideshow team developed toy lines for more than a dozen companies and was involved in hundreds of individual products.

In 1999, Sideshow began marketing its own line of collectible and specialty products under the Sideshow Toy brand. Quickly recognized as a quality manufacturer, Sideshow Toy achieved critical acclaim in its first year in the marketplace. Sideshow products have been highlighted in national trade and specialty toy publications where their Action Figures, 12" Dolls and polystone collectibles have been awarded 'Best of the Year' by various trade publications.

Sideshow Toy is a current manufacturer of licensed collectible products based on the following properties: The Lord of the Rings, James Bond, Star Trek, Universal Studios Classic Monsters, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Jim Henson's Dark Crystal and the Muppets, Young Frankenstein, Outer Limits, Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes, Platoon, Twilight Zone, and Army of Darkness. In addition, Sideshow manufactures its own line of historically accurate 12" figures under the brands: Bayonets & Barbed Wire (WWI), Brotherhood of Arms (American Civil War) and Six Gun Legends (western characters).

In 2000, Sideshow created a unique partnership for product development with Weta Workshop of New Zealand, the company responsible for the conceptualizing, prosthetics, make-up effects, weapons, armor and miniatures for Peter Jackson's, Lord of the Rings, film trilogy. Over a 3 year period, beginning in September 2001, the Sideshow / Weta team are releasing a broad range of collectible figures, busts, miniature weapons and helmets based on the film trilogy.

The Sideshow / Weta relationship has been extended to also focus on the creation of a broad range of high-quality busts of Jim Henson's Muppet characters. These museum-quality pieces will celebrate 25 years of Muppet magic and zaniness.

Sideshow Toy products, Sideshow Collectibles and Sideshow / Weta Collectibles are currently sold in specialty, trend, collectible and comic shops, as well as on the Internet at

Behind the games and miniatures at the heart of the Games Workshop business is the imagery that defines our two major gaming worlds. Over the last 25 years GW has refined the grim medieval fantasy world of Warhammer and the gothic war-torn science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000 to create carefully chronicled societies, lands and even ecosystems. This wealth of intellectual property has triggered the expansion of gaming material and more recently the publication and development of a number of related products.

Games Workshop’s publishing wing The Black Library is behind the development of Warhammer graphic novels and monthly comics and other support material. A desire to appeal to a slightly older audience has led to the establishment of Forge World, producing premium priced resin models of key characters, battle tanks and terrain. The acquisition of collectible card game designer and developer Sabertooth Games further broadens our range of niche products.

More recently the company has looked further afield, to look for suitable partners with whom to expand into new media and formats. Current projects include the development of Warhammer Online - a massively multiplayer online role-playing gaming system and Warhammer 40,000 computer and console games.
