Released September 20, Ten Thousand Fists pummeled the competition by opening with U.S. sales of 239,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The Warner Bothers release is Disturbed's third, and their first studio album in three years. The new album's first radio single, "Stricken," has been on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for nine weeks and currently rests in the top five.
The cover artwork features an army of people from all walks of life, raising their fists in unity, strength and defiance. The band's choice to bring their vision to life was the team of Capullo and McFarlane. The creative duo aimed to produce an image that would stand out in a sea of other CDs, and they captured the album's essence with a powerfully unforgettable image.
