Mattel Q&A For January 15, 2010

by Jay Cochran
January 15, 2010
TNI: Does Mattel have the license for “The Last Airbender” movie and if so, when can we expect to see previews of the figures from that movie? Will Mattel ever offer any of The Last Airbender toys on Matty Collector whether from the movie or the cartoon? Question By TNI reader Shanks.

Mattel: No, Mattel does not have the license for this film.

TNI: Is it possible for both the JLU Batman Beyond and the Cheetah 3-packs to be sold at Mattycollector.com? Or will these be re-leased in another Target case assortment? Question by TNI reader Bosskmr.

Mattel: While we would love to re-release these packs on Mattycollector.com, due to the low interest in the JLU four-packs, we don’t feel we can reach the minimum number of units to keep the price reasonable, especially considering these two packs have already been out there (even if not every fan has it). We will, however, look at other ways of bringing these characters out again.

TNI: Will we continue to see new AVATAR toys released by Mattel in 2010 and will they be released on MattyCollector.com? Question by TNI reader Skokker.

Mattel: At this time, all of our Avatar product has been released, although it is possible we may have something for SDCC depending on the sales of the current SKUs and collector demand!

TNI: Will we see any Super Friends figures like Samurai, Black Vulcan, El Dorado, and Apache Chief in the DCUC line for 2010? Question by TNI reader Superpowers1980.

Mattel: Sorry, we can’t comment on any unannounced figures! We will have wave 14 to show off at NEW YORK TOY FAIR on February 14th.

TNI: Will we see a line of figures based on “Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths” like we saw with Public Enemies and if so what scale will they be in?

Mattel: No, we do not have plans for a Crisis on Earth Two line. It came too soon after Public Enemies for us to evaluate how that line did.

We sent in our next round of questions to Mattel today and will get them back with answers by February 1, 2010. If you would like to post questions for us to possibly send in to Mattel for a future round, CLICK HERE.
