Toy Fair 2008: Jesse Falcon dishes details on the fate of Legendary Comic Book Heroes LCBH Line and more

by Ryno
February 16, 2008
At the American International Toy Fair 2008 in New York we had a chance to talk with Jesse Falcon at Marvel Toys (formerly ToyBiz) about Wave 3 of Legendary Comic Book Heroes and more.

It turns out that Wave 3 of Legendary Comic Book Heroes will not be released and that the line is done. Jesse went on to tell us that even though sales were good, Marvel Toys decided to pull the plug so they could concentrate more on working with outside vendors like Hasbro. Jesse was very excited about what was coming down the pipeline and believes that collectors and fans will be very happy come the New York Comic-Con and San Diego Comic Con this year.

For a look at the Legendary Comic Book Heroes Wave 3 that will never see production, Click Here to see our gallery from the 2007 SDCC.

The only three I have are Witchblade,Darkness, and Anne O'brien. I wanted Aphrodite and the Ghost, but I'll survive.

F#@K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This sucks. I can't describe my anticipation for that Mean Machine. Truely an awesome fig. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From a less angry standpoint, baron and XIIK, I cannot agree more.

.....s#*t...........

This is odd to say the least. I have still yet to see Wave 2 (aside from Judge Death) in stores and the 2-packs are finally showing up en masse. Its not for the figures I saw at SDCC that I weep (for the most part the first 3 waves didn't do a lot for me), but it was the concept of the line and the promise of many of my fav Indy characters getting made.

I am just sooooo friggin mad about this news!!!

I wanted VANGUARD so bad!!

Not only for my Savage Dragon but because he also goes with my Ninja Turtlesw collection.

Ugh I hope some one else picks up Savage Dragon and makes an entire line of figures because the character more than diserves his own line, I mean he has such a crazy cast of characters, even if people didn't know who he was the line would do well.

Man this ticks me off so much, I just want to kick a hole in the wall!

This announcement truly, f@*&ing sickens me. While the longevity of this line was always in question, I think dropping this bomb before Series 3 (shown a year ago)could be released and while 2 was just beginning to trickle-out is absolutely deplorable; truly bad timing. Hell, a few Wal-Marts in my area that never even carried these were beginning to stock them a few weeks ago; things were looking-up. They even went so far as to say "sales were good" yet the plug was being pulled...WTF?!? With the promise of that wicked Frost Giant BAF (with variant none-the-less!), I can almost guarantee that sales for this particular wave would have doubled (even tripled) the first 2 series just based on fan's reactions. Despite the fact that I truly only wanted Mean Machine and Conan, I had already accepted that I'd personally be getting two full sets just for the Frost Giants. While this could mean good news for the Hasbro Legends line "shaping-up", I feel kicked in the gut and now wish I had never seen those damn proto.s from last year!

*PS- That little line to the effect of "for a look at LCBH wave 3 that will never see production, click here" was just cruel. Thanks for rubbing salt in the wound!

I couldnt agree with you more on all fronts here. this was a sweet ass line of figures and i already had room in my shelf for ice giant and the rest. I hope these outside projects mean that toybiz will be overseeing sculpt deco etc over the steaming crapfest that is hasbro marvel legends.

That sucks, not entirely unexpected but it sucks none the less. I would however like to know more about MT's relaionship with Hasbro. Could someone shed some light on it?

Yeah, it's too bad the line is gone. But I agree about the info on Hasbro. "Outside projects?" Ya don't think...nah. Hasbro couldn't have actually grown a brain cell or three about that which they took away from Jesse & Co., could they? Hurm. @hmmm@

Lord Amron - 2008-02-17 @ 3:11 am

BOOOOOOO!!! I was looking forward to that Aphrodite X. What were the other figs that were supposed to come with wave 3?? Was Grendel one of them?? Now I guess I'll have to wait for Scud (Shocker doesn't seem so bad now do they??)
