November 13, 2020
Just reported on IGN is the reveal that not so much of as reveal, but an updated reissue, of the Transformers x Ghostbusters Ecto-1 that is being offered as a Target Exclusive. Something we've kind of known from the many leaks that came out of the Target inventory earlier this year.

This isn't the first version of Ectotron released by Hasbro: an earlier version was based on the design from the 1984 original movie. The updated version for Afterlife features a new head-sculpt with "updated Ecto-Goggles" inspired by the movie. Ectotron's specs have also been updated for the new movie, to highlight his "strength, speed, and bust-abilty."

The figure will be revealed today on the Fan First Friday session at 11 am ET / 8am PT and is said to be going on sale at that time.

Certain elements on this new Target Exclusive Afterlife1 I like better than the original, mainly the Robot Mode head. While I would prefer it was more white than the fade white with weathering effects, I will understand since it is more based on the upcoming Afterlife movie version of Ecto-1, so I can't really fault them on that.

Though a part of me would of more liked a Ecto-1A version of Ectotron from Ghostbusters II, only to see what they would do with the more elaborate roof rack from 1A. Or see if instead of a Proton Pack, see if they could do the Slime Blower. Who knows, maybe something they will do down the road if they need to do another variant.

Either way, good for those who missed out on the 1st Ectrotron.

Since Ectrotron is based on the Voyager Class Combiner Wars Onslaught and Hotspot/Power Of The Primes Inferno mold, I do wish it still had it's combining capabilities, only so that they could of had the option of doing other Crossover Combiner limbs, or at the very least, have the option of doing combing with other Combiner Wars/Power Of The Primes Deluxes. I mean, imagine if they did Gigawatt using 1 of the DeluxeCombiner Wars car molds as a base, and a Deluxe Jet mold for Top Gun.

I think this Ecto looks better than the Gigawatt...

The Top Gun and Back to the Future crossover looked very crappy and low quality. This one, on the other hand, looks pretty cool.
