2011 Toy Fair: Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats! Hoooo! - Bandai Showroom Images

I have been pretty excited about this license since we first saw the images of new product Bandai has coming out this year for ThunderCats, but after visiting their showroom today at the New York Toy Fair and seeing all the stuff first hand, I can tell you that excitement was not misplaced.
All the toys looked really good and at the same seemed to keep the elements of being fun for kids all at the same time. There will be 6" and 4" figures based on the new Cartoon Network series, which we got to see a sizzler on, and let me tell you, I like what I see so far. The story is going to focus on a young Lion-O and basically tell the story of him overcoming the struggles to become king. There are going to be all the classic characters as well as some new ones. We saw a new villain who takes the meaning of using his head to a whole new level. Basically he can remove his spiked head and throw it at people. No figure for this one was announced yet, but I am sure it will be coming.
There will be regular 4" figures and deluxe ones that come with cool features and electronic detachable bases. The Deluxe Lion-O will even do his activation of the eye of Thundera sword stick, and you will hear him say, "Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats Hooo!."
The vehicles all look really fun to. The Thundertank was by far the coolest thing. It comes with a Snarf figure and has tons of features including two small bikes that pop out from under the tank's claws. Oh and then you can by bigger versions of the Thunder bikes separately that can also be attached to the sides of the tank to make it an even bigger looking vehicle. You will notice in our photo gallery below a picture of one of these bikes, and though the one in the showroom didn't have a clear canopy, the final version will.
There is also going to be a Tower Of Omens playset which will be the headquarters in the new series. This is also filled with lots of playable features such as a working Eye Of Thundera that will project the Thundercats symbol on your wall. The Thundertank will also be able to interact with this set. Oh and by no means is this a confirmation, but you might want to pay close attention to the images of the packaging for this set in our gallery below for a hint of another classic Thundercats character who might be appearing in the new series.
Finally there is the 8" Classic figures. These figures are based on the original Thundercats and are very detailed and articulated. They have all their classic accessories and seem to remain very true to their original counterparts. Right now only two characters are being released, Lion-O and Tygra, but we should see the rest of the team get released over time, though don't expect these to come out quickly. We were told these will be sprinkled out throughout the course of the line or a slow period of time.
So check out all the images below and we will have some video up later showing off the Tank and some of the other toys in action.
