I hope it's good.

Thats right on the money, as far as Im concerned... They absolutely couldve delved much more into Jokers story if they reallyneededto pad it out in some way. Or, animateKilling Joke by itself, and include with it another animated short of whatever the next most beloved Joker-centric story is, with Conroy and Hamill continuing to reprise, as a companion piece. That way thered betwo standalone stories, but with a central focus on Joker, himself. Beingthat hes my all-time favorite super villain, Id have probably eaten that right up.
All that mirrors the complaints Ive read. I think they were trying to give a greater impact to the tragedy that befalls Batgirl by establishing a deeper relationship for the story, but it sounds like they failed in conveying that message in the end product.

The biggest problem for mewith The Killing Joke animated movie, is that they essentially just padded it out with these two Barbara Gordon / Batgirl bookend segments, that amounted to not much more than Fifty Shades of (Black and) Grey. Shes young, feeling hot and bothered over the Batman, and all of that domestic, should they or shouldnt theyhook up garbage, has absolutely no lasting effect on the actual Killing Joke portion of the movie.
The Killing Joke segment is almost a straight up scene for scene, word for word adaptation of the comic and its pretty great for what it is. Especially seeing that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprised Batman and Joker, for it.
But, I think theres something to be said for Barbaras strength as a woman, and as Batgirl specifically, beingperhaps undermined slightly by reducing her toa pining, lovelorn young woman, who is completely and totally obsessed with Batman. Even if aspects of that relationship are somewhat portrayed realistically, in how bad of a decision their potentially getting together would be to begin with, and then the subsequent fallout of such a decision.
But again, all of that serves absolutely no purpose in the grand scheme of adapting The Killing Joke. It has zero effect, for better or worse, on that part of the story. And begs the question, whythe hell was it put there, andwhat the hellwere they thinking.

This is the best animated DC series since Justice League. I like the movies, most of them are more adult oriented and edgier. Definitely not for kids. There are a lot of those that I didn't watch. Tehre asre some very good ones like Flashpoint.

I absolutely loved this show when it aired. Im extremely happy to see that its actually coming back. DC knows how to make excellent animated shows. Their movies however have been abit touch and go and their random mature moments is really off putting and super awkward.
Happy to see this series get another shot. The animation, plot, voice acting, fights, etc. wereall on point. It was sadto see it go just because it couldnt move enough plastic.
